You offer a Manual in 3 of the 6 cars/hatchbacks you offer, please make that number 4 and put a manual in the Malibu!
The 2.0T the Malibu uses is the same platform and engine as the Buick Regal GS FWD, which offers a manual transmission. So obviously the Malibu could technically be had with 3 pedals.
I know it wouldn't sell worth a damn, but there'd be so minimal R&D cost associated with it, it wouldn't kill you financially to offer it.
Ford offers 3 pedals on the 1.6T Fusion, so why not one-up them with a 6-speed 2.0T Malibu? Spice up the offerings a little bit Chevy!
I will commend you for offering one on most trim levels of the Cruze, Sonic, and Spark though.

I think they first need to get the malibu to be a sales leader outside of rental fleets who won't buy the manual transmission anyways.

Isn't the Malibu a 2.4 Turbo?...

And toss in the LT4 while you're at it. You'll sell three of them but we'll love you long time!

Nope 2.0L
2.4 is the size of the N/A 4

Eh. I don't see the point.
Manuals make sense on the small economy cars. A big FWD Malibu? Pass. I think it's entirely pointless on the Fusion too.

Honestly how many 1.6T Fusions with a manual do you think Ford moves? They still offer it though.

Why not buy one of those then? Show your willingness to spend money on a MT midsizer.

It'd give the Malibu some sort of appeal to someone though. Right now it really doesn't have anything going for it other than looks IMO.

We had a Turbo 2.4 come through my shop as a new car PDI....Maybe it wasn't a Malibu, but I could have sworn it was.

I don't think Chevy offers a Turbo 2.4 in anything. Maybe it was an aftermarket job?

It was a brand new car shipped from GM......it was white, had a turbo badge, I looked at the window sticker it said "2.4 Turbocharged engine"
I'm almost certain it was a malibu...

Then either the entire website has a typo, or that window sticker did.
Pulled straight from the Malibu's information page on the website.
Maybe it's some sort of service duty motor?

And while they're at it, AWD.

It could have been a fleet car....or unicorn.....

Yes.
I don't get why that wasn't offered in the first place. The platform is obviously capable of it, so why not?

I'm really curious now. Is the car still there? Go check it out man!

They do make the Malibu with a turbo 4 and a manual trans.
It just looks better and has a different badge...

GM: Genious Mismanaged

We tossed it from our dealer to the Chevy dealer as we do with all the new ones....including the Stingray...

But more expensive.
Valid point though.

I don't see how having a manual suddenly makes it appealing to anyone, at least anyone that doesn't browse opposite lock.

In Europe as a mondeo, quite a few I'm sure!
That is the car I'm making my mom get next BTW!
![]() 05/19/2014 at 21:22 |

I sure in Europe they do, but in America I doubt many get moved. It's still f-ing awesome of them to offer it though.

If they work to put a manual in it, they should also work to fix the grill proportions

Better yet, they need to put the 2.0L Turbo from the Verano into the Cruze. Specifically into my Cruze. They can call me to schedule the surgery.
